All Hazards Preparation

Prepared Today. Ready for Anything.

Emergencies can happen quickly and may disrupt electricity, water, transportation, cellular service, and access to emergency responders. Whether the threat is severe weather, wildfire, flooding, extreme heat, a hazardous-material incident, or an extended power outage, a few actions taken today can protect you, your family, and your neighbors.

Get alerts. Sign up for Warn Central Texas and keep Wireless Emergency Alerts enabled on your phone. Follow official public-safety sources and do not rely on unverified social media posts.

Make a plan. Know where you will shelter, how you will evacuate, where your family will meet, and how you will communicate if phone service is limited. Plan for children, older adults, disabilities, medical needs, and pets.

Build a kit. Keep enough water, food, medications, lighting, batteries, charging devices, first-aid supplies, hygiene items, cash, and other essentials to support every member of your household for up to seven days.

Know your neighbors. Identify anyone who may need extra assistance. During a major emergency, neighbors are often the first people available to help one another.

When officials tell you to evacuate or shelter in place, act immediately. Do not wait until conditions become dangerous.

Prepared households allow firefighters, paramedics, law enforcement officers, and public works crews to concentrate limited resources on the people facing the greatest danger.

Prepare today. Act early. Stay informed. Help one another.
